Ford Motor Company, for their 50th anniversary, commissioned Norman Rockwell to make a series of paintings dealing with Henry Ford, the early days of the company and selected members of the Ford Family. Rockwell painted eight during 1951-52, three of which are currently extant in the museum’s collection. The titles vary for these three paintings. The titles used are derived from these descriptions. “An interior scene of the Bagley Avenue shop depicting Mr. Henry Ford working on his 1896 Model car while Mrs. Henry Ford sat by.” -- Norman Rockwell, 1/7/1952.
